My blog won't connect

If connecting your blog doesn't work, it's usually the address or a security setting on your site. Here's what to check.

  1. Make sure you pasted your home page address, like https://yourblog.com, not the address of a post.
  2. Make sure you ticked I own this blog and authorize Food Blog Studio to read its public posts. Connect my blog stays greyed out until you do.
  3. Still won't connect? Click Not on WordPress? Use your sitemap instead on the Your blog card. See Use your sitemap instead.

Messages when connecting

  • "Your WordPress feed is turned off for visitors": usually a security plugin, like Disable REST API, Solid Security, or Perfmatters. Ask whoever manages your site to allow public access to /wp-json/wp/v2/posts.
  • "Your site's firewall answered instead of WordPress": ask your host to allow requests to /wp-json/ from browsers.
  • "A plugin on your site hides your posts from the WordPress feed": email hello@foodblog.studio.
  • "We found WordPress at a different address than the one you entered": if your blog is in a folder, check the address and try again.
  • "Your WordPress feed says you have no published posts yet": check you pasted the right blog.

If Food Blog Studio can't read WordPress, it looks for your sitemap instead. Internal links work from a sitemap, but recipe cards and @ need the WordPress connection. If you already had a linking list, it stays as it was.
