Connect Google Analytics and Search Console

Connect Google once and Analytics keeps itself up to date. Here's which account to use, how to connect, and what happens next.

We can only read your data. We can't change anything in your Google account.

Before you start

Connect with the Google account that can see both your Google Analytics 4 property and your Search Console site. It doesn't have to be the email you use for Food Blog Studio.

Not sure which account that is? Sign in to analytics.google.com and search.google.com/search-console with it. If both show your blog, you're set. If each one only shows up on a different account, see When GA and Search Console are on different accounts.

Connect Google

  1. Click Analytics at the top of the sidebar. Home shows Let's get your numbers in. You can also go to Personalization in the sidebar and scroll down to Analytics.
  2. Click Connect Google (in Personalization, Connect Google Analytics & Search Console) and sign in with the account from above. Click through Google's screens to the end (Allow, then Continue). Be sure to tick both boxes on Google's screen.
  3. If you have more than one property or site, you'll see Which one is your blog? Choose your Google Analytics property and your Search Console site, then click Save and continue (in Personalization, Save).

That's it. There's no second password and nothing else to click.

What happens next

  • Your recent numbers show up within a few minutes. Your first sync starts as soon as you connect.
  • Your history loads on its own. History, up to 2 years (16 months for Search Console), loads over the next few hours. The Sync card in Personalization shows how far along it is ("History: 6 of 24 months loaded").
  • You can close the page. Everything runs on our side, so you don't need to keep a tab open.
  • After that, your numbers update automatically every day. Click Refresh now on the Sync card if you want the latest right away.
  • Promotion fills in last. It needs last year's data, so give it a few hours after you connect.

When your numbers are in, Home says Your numbers are in. Click Show me around for a 1-minute tour, or start with Analytics Home.

Your data stays private

  • Read-only access. We never change anything in your Google account.
  • Your Google data is never sent to any AI model and never used to train AI.
  • Your numbers are private to your account. Other members never see them.

If something goes wrong

  • "Google stopped accepting this connection." The card says Google access expired. Click Reconnect Google. Don't worry, your data is safe and will pick up where it left off. See Google access expired.
  • "Connection timed out. Please try again." Click Try again.
  • "Almost there. Be sure to tick both boxes on Google's screen." Click Try again.
  • "No Google Analytics on…" or "No Search Console on…", with "Could it be on a different Google account?" Click Try another Google account. Check which account is shown in the top-right corner of Google Analytics. If someone else set it up, ask them to add you as a Viewer. See When GA and Search Console are on different accounts.
  • "Something went wrong connecting Google" or "We couldn't read your sites from Google." Click Try again, or Try another Google account.
  • "Pick a GA4 property and a Search Console site above to start syncing": you haven't picked both yet. Choose them under Which one is your blog? and click Save.
  • Promotion or a graph looks empty: your history may still be loading. See Analytics looks empty.
