Get started in four steps
Do these four things in order. A fifth, syncing your earnings, is optional. Each one takes a few minutes, and you don't have to do them all on day one.
Note
If you have Analytics, Getting started in the sidebar keeps this list for you. It shows what's next, keeps your place if you stop halfway, and has 1-minute App Tours of each part of the app. Tours need a computer. Hid it? Open Settings > Account and click Show the guide next to Getting started guide.
1. Get your numbers
Connect Google so Food Blog Studio can show how your blog is doing and which posts to work on. It takes about 2 minutes. Start on Home, which shows Let's get your numbers in, or click Connect Google in Getting started.
- Use the Google account that you set up Google Analytics and Search Console with. It can be a different email from the one you log in with.
- Click through Google's screens to the end, and be sure to tick both boxes. It's read only: we can see your numbers, but we can't change anything in your Google account.
- Your last 28 days show up in a few minutes. History, up to 2 years (16 months for Search Console), loads over the next few hours. Click Connect your blog while you wait to keep going.
Step by step: Connect Google Analytics and Search Console.
Note
Analytics is part of Food Blog Studio, and Food Blog Coaching members have it too. On Food Blog Studio Writer? You can try Analytics free from the banner at the top of the app, or start at step 2.
2. Connect your blog
So the Writer knows your posts and recipe cards. It takes about 3 minutes.
- Go to Personalization and click Connect on Your blog (or Connect my blog in Getting started). Paste your blog's address, tick I own this blog and authorize Food Blog Studio to read its public posts., then click Connect my blog. Keep the tab open while it imports.
- Then type @ in any chat to pick one of your posts, and the Writer reads its recipe card.
Step by step: Connect your blog.
3. Set up your writing style
So the Writer sounds like you. It takes about 8 minutes, and you can do it while your blog imports. In Getting started, Set it up gives you a short tour of the steps.
- Paste 5 to 10 full blog posts, including titles and headings. See Add writing samples.
- Fill in your Ideal Reader Profile: 10 quick questions about who you write for. See Build your Ideal Reader Profile.
- Caption and newsletter samples are optional, but worth it if you write those every week.
This is the first place Food Blog Studio uses AI. Connecting Google, your numbers, and connecting your blog don't use it, and your Google data never goes to any AI model.
4. Pick a post to update
This is where your numbers and the Writer work together. In Getting started, click Show me next to Pick a post to update for a short tour.
- Open Opportunities and pick one post. Each one shows why it's on the list.
- Let the Writer help. Type @ to pick the post, then try the Meta Description Creator (for Low CTR), the FAQ Writer, or the Intro Writer.
- Update it on your blog. You're the editor, so make it yours.
- Log it on Updates or on the post's page. After 14 days, each update shows Improving, Declining, or No clear change, measured against your whole blog. Before that, it says Too early to tell.
More: Opportunities and How the Writer works.
5. Sync your earnings (optional)
On Raptive? Connect it to see your earnings next to your traffic. Connect Google first, then click Connect Raptive in Getting started, or go to Personalization > Ad Revenue. See Connect Raptive.
Beta
Raptive earnings are in beta. Pending Mediavine/Journey API.
Then, every week
- Open Home when you sit down to work. It shows how your blog is doing and what to update next.
- Check Promotion and share one recipe your readers wanted at this time last year. Type @ in Social Captions to write the caption from the real recipe.
- Check "Did your updates work?" on Home for the posts you've updated.
